Still Standing is a spatial installation created on the West Bank in the context of the 78th commemoration of the Nakba. In 2025 we revisited the Palestinian olive wood carver Eyad Al-Swai and have taken series of black and white portraits of him next to his home, which we helped him starting building up in 2013. We designed a site specific temporary memorial installation for bridge keeper's house in Rotterdam, aiming to draw attention to the right to a safe home. During the exhibition, Palestinian-born Ibrahim and Nawal Al-Baz shared their personal Nakba experiences with the audience in a performative yet intimate setting. This event follows a tradition of 'oral history,' in which the story of the Nakba is passed down from the older generation to the younger, supplementing the missing information in the written books.

Still standing installation, photography, sculpture, performance. Exhibited Galerie Lecq Rotterdam, Go West Rotterdam, Dordrecht Libraries, Made possible with the generous support of: Mondriaan Fund, O&O CBK R’dam.
